Top 5 1/64 Die-Cast Cars to Convert into RC Drifters

Top 5 1/64 Die-Cast Cars to Convert into RC Drifters

Not all die-cast cars are created equal—especially when it comes to RC conversion.

To help you get the most out of your D64 RC Drift Kit, we’ve put together our top 5 favorite 1/64 cars that are compatible, cool-looking, and drift-ready. These cars are known for their clean body lines, easy modification, and epic drift aesthetics.

Note: The cars below are from brands like Hot Wheels®, Jada Toys®, and others. Our kit is compatible with many 1/64 models, but always check interior space and body fit.

1. Nissan Maxima (Sleeper Vibes)

The Maxima may not be your go-to drift car in real life, but in 1/64 scale? It’s a total sleeper. We Even Built a FLAME Shooting one! With a boxy frame and plenty of underbody clearance, this model fits the D64 chassis well and adds that underdog vibe to your drift garage.

2. Nissan GT-R R35 (Featured by @RCDRIFTTOK)

This one is a fan favorite—and the car that helped put DKEBuilds on the map.

Content creator @RCDRIFTTOK showcased the D64 kit using a 1/64 scale R35 GT-R in multiple viral videos, with one video alone gaining millions of views. The R35 body fits like a glove and looks incredibly aggressive sideways on a mini track.

3. Nissan Silvia S15

The S15 has earned its legend status in the drift world, and in 1/64 scale it’s no different. The clean lines, low-slung profile, and JDM appeal make it one of the most visually rewarding cars to convert.

4. Nissan GT-R R34 (The Classic)

You can’t build a proper drift lineup without an R34. Iconic, boxy, and highly detailed in most die-cast versions, the R34 offers great fitment and visual punch when mounted on the D64 chassis.

5. Mazda RX-7 FD3S (Honorable Mention)

While not a Nissan, the RX-7 deserves a spot on the podium. The wide stance and sharp nose make it one of the most dynamic shapes to throw sideways—even in 1/64 form.

Tips for Choosing the Right Car:

  • Look for plastic baseplates (easier to drill/mount)
  • Avoid cars with interiors that dip too low
  • Make sure there’s enough space inside the shell for electronics
